The IPSentry IPSX Configuration Wizard assists you with configuring IPSX Dashboard for use with your IPSentry installation.

After running the IPSX Dashboard installation, you will be presented with the IPSX Configuration Wizard.
You may also launch the wizard at any time from the Windows start menu.

Once you receive the IPSX Configuration Wizard welcome, click NEXT.

Locate IPSentry Application Folder

Locate IPSentry Application Folder

The IPSX Dashboard requires access to the IPSentry configuration settings which are located in the IPSentry application folder and IPSentry IPSDataRoot folder. The wizard will attempt to locate and present the current IPSentry installation folder if it is installed on the local system..

If IPSentry is not installed on the system, the wizard will be unable to locate the IPSentry application and configuration settings and will not function properly unless the location is provided.

The configuration wizard will check the folders selected to insure that key files representing the IPSentry application and data folders are present and will not allow you to continue until the proper folders are selected.

The default installation folders are:
Application Folder: C:\Program Files\RGE INC\IPSentryV5
Data Folder: C:\Program Files\RGE INC\IPSentryV5\IPSDataRoot

On 64bit, the default installation folders are:
Application Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\RGE INC\IPSentryV5
Data Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\RGE INC\IPSentryV5\IPSDataRoot

Configure IPSX Internal Server Settings

Configure IPSX Internal Server Settings

The IPSX Internal Web Server distributed with the IPSX Dashboard is a resource that provides the basic required functionality to serve the IPSX data and files.

RGE recommends using Internet Information Services (IIS) if you intend to provide access to the IPSX Dashboard outside of your local network.  The included web server is intended for demonstration, pre-production testing, or internal network use only.

Disabled (Using IIS)
If you will be using IIS as the web server, select the "Disabled (Using IIS)" option and click "Next" as this section does not apply.
Review the appropriate IIS configuration document for enabling IPSX Web Dashboard with IIS

Listen on TCP Port #
Select the TCP/IP Port # on which the internal IPSX server should listen for incoming requests.
The default port is 28082 and should be appropriate for most installations.
The port # selected here should not be in use by any other listing process.

*If you will be accessing the IPSX server remotely through a firewall, you will need to enable inbound connections to the selected port.

Test Selected Port
Click this button to test the selected port number and verify that the IPSX server can bind to and listen for connections on this port.
You may receive a Windows warning message to unblock or allow the IpsxHTTPSvc process to listen on this port and you should select to Allow or Unblock.

Local Access Only
When this option is enabled, only requests originating from 127.0.0.1 will be accepted and all other IP Addresses will be rejected.

Uncheck this option to allow connections from IP Addresses other than the localhost.

During initial installation, configuration, and testing, you should enable this security block.

If you require enhanced IP Address filtering restrictions, SSL, or other advanced security configurations required if opening the IPSX Dashboard to the internet, use IIS as the web hosting server in order to take advantage of the additional security options available in IIS.

IPSX Root Web Path
This folder represents the root physical location that the IPSX Internal Web server will use as the root of it's web.

You should not change this value.

Configure IPSX Administrative User

Configure IPSX Administrative User

If this is the first time you have installed IPSX Dashboard and the first time you have run the IPSX Configuration Wizard, the default administrative user for IPSX access is user Admin with a password of admin. We recommend that you change the password for the default admin user at this time.

You can add, remove, and modify users later through the IPSX Dashboard itself.  However, you must have at least one admin user in order to change user settings from the IPSX Web Dashboard.

Finish adn Launch IPSX Web Dashboard

Once you have applied the settings and the service has started successfully, you will shown the URL of your IPSX web dashboard and be provided with the option of launch IPSX.

Click the "Launch" button to start your default web browser and launch the IPSX Web Dashboard.

Note that the URL displayed will be the local host and port number of the IPSX Internal Web Server.  Configuring for local only will bind the server to 127.0.0.1 and accept only requests which are directed specifically to the http://127.0.0.1 host on the selected port.

Depending on your local configuration, the IP Address or domain name required to access IPSX from a remote system may vary.

* If you have disabled the internal web server and opted for an IIS based installation, consult your IIS properties for the actual URL to use.
