RGE supports three primary types of paging / SMS / text messaging options.

  1. Numeric DTMF (Dial Tone) beeper.
This is the type of paging where you dial a pager number, and enter the number that appears on the beeper. The simplest modem based paging option.

  2. Alphanumeric Text (TAP/SMS)
IPSentry support alphanumeric paging using the TAP protocol. Your paging, cell, mobile device company must support the TAP protocol for modem based paging in order to utilize this feature. However, you may utilize the SMS scripting functions for other text messaging system..

  3. Alphanumeric Text (Email/SMTP)
While this can be unreliable given the purpose of IPSentry (connectivity failure detection), email based paging is supported using standard SMTP email configurations.

While there are many other paging options not yet supported by IPSentry, many of these can be handled using the optional Script paging functionality available in IPSentry. Samples of various scripts are provided for reference and may be used to handle menu style (or manual) terminal based paging systems such as Telenote, Orange, Nokia SMS Devices, etc...
