It should function the same all the way back to v4.
You can always update to the latest 5.x version at http://www.ipsentry.com/download
All 5.x versions are free maintenance updates to previous 5.x versions so there is no upgrade charge to move to the latest 5.x version.
It's a simple install over the top as well.
