IPSentry - Instruction - Upgrading from Previous Version
When upgrading from a previous version of IPSentry, we recommend a full uninstall of the current version, a system reboot to clean up and finalize the uninstall and then proceeding with installation of the new version. A reboot may be required after installation and is also recommended.
In order to keep your existing configuration, the following steps should be taken for the upgrade process to go smoothly.
If running IPSentry as a service.
Stop the Service via control panel services applet or NET STOP SRVIPSEN command line.
Uninstall the service as outlined in the
NT Service section of this documentation:
SRVIPSEN -uninstall
Launch IPSentry as a desktop application.
Select Edit/Options from the menu.
Click on the EXPORT SETTINGS button.
Select the location and file to which you would like to store your configuration.
Backup the file created by this process.
Exit IPSentry
Select to Uninstall IPSentry from either the windows start menu or via the Add/Remove programs option in control panel.
Reboot the system.
Install the current version of IPSentry (reboot may be required)
Launch IPSentry
Select Edit/Options from the IPSentry menu.
Click the IMPORT SETTINGS button.
Select the file that was created instep 5 above.
Restart IPSentry
If you do not export your settings, they will be removed and you will then be required to manually re-enter all of the configuration settings.
