The Active Display Console
The IPSentry Active Display Console provides you with a continuous update of the progress of the IPSentry monitoring cycle.
Each status line contains the Date, Time, Type, Item Name, and additional information (depending on the type of device being monitored).
Type of items displayed:
NTWRK |
Network Device |
DRIVE |
Drive Space |
NTSRV |
NT Service |
ADDIN |
Add-In Component |
When there is a failure, the normal green OK will be replaced with UNAVAIL* and any alerts scheduled for this device will be performed.
IPSentry offers a "Short" and
"Long" display option from the View
Menu.
The short display simply shows the device being monitored and the result.
The long display shows various actions being processed as well as a count-down timer
to failure.
All of the information output to the Active Display can be captured to the history log file named HIyyyymmdd.buf file in the IPSentry log files directory. This allows you to view historical activity presented to the console.
NOTE: The active display console is only available when IPSentry is running as a desktop application. This display is not available when IPSentry is running as an NT System Service. In order to access the active display when IPSentry is running as a service, you will need to configure the remote access functionality and simply telnet into the IPSentry service to view the current activity with any basic ANSI or VT100 compatible telnet client.
The console is the primary entry point to all IPSentry functionality through the various menu options available.
