How-To: Configure global default settings to be used by entries.

IPSentry allows you to configure a basic (default) device configuration as well as default alerts that will be used by many (or all) of the monitored devices.  Primarily in the alerting area, many devices use identical alert settings and schedules with a few exceptions.

To configure these global default settings:

  1. From the IPSentry active display console, select Options from the Edit menu.

  2. Select the Server/Machine Monitoring tab.

  3. Hit the Configure Defaults button.

  4. Any configuration settings defined here will be used as the Default configuration for all alerts as well as being the default configuration settings when adding new devices.

Under various alert settings, you will notice an Enabled option of Default, Yes, No.   Selection of Default simply tells IPSentry that this alert should use whatever settings have been configured using the above method.  When you make changes to these settings, those alerts which have the Default option marked will automatically be updated to use the new settings.
