IPSentry - Options Dialogue (configuration editor)
The IPSentry Options dialogue provides you with access to all of the IPSentry settings you may require for configuration of the software.
From this point, you will be controlling how IPSentry performs, where it logs information, timing information, hardware setup, and network monitoring options, and more.
This area is divided into three primary areas:
System Settings
This tab provides access to application specific information that will
control functionality not related to any specific device or network
function. The settings provided here relate to things such as:
General timing and application launch options
Logging information such as log paths, log files and types.
Remote Accessibility and redundant monitoring configuration.
Statistics output options.
Modem Settings
This tab allows you to configure the default modem configuration you may be
using for the majority of pager alerts. While each pager can maintain
it's own custom settings, you will find that most, if not all, of your
pagers are using the same modem and the same basic configuration.
Server/Machine Monitoring
Here is where the guts of IPSentry are uncovered. From this tab you
will be defining everything from unique machine names, network devices,
schedules, alert options, and more.
Each of the tabs represented above will give you access to specific configuration options related to that area. After an initial configuration of the System Settings and Modem Settings, you will spend most of your time configuring items under Server/Machine Monitoring; defining network devices to be monitored, alerting options, schedules, and etc.
While each component of IPSentry is documented for clarification, the best way to learn about the power of IPSentry will be to go through our How-To section and configure some basic monitoring and alerting entries. Once you get the feel for one or two, the true power available to you through IPSentry should become quite apparent.
